Freelance Editing

A good editor can make you look like a rock star. Whether your products are print or digital, everyone needs a little editing in their lives.

I’ve dabbled in the editing trade for a few decades having done pieces from corporate technical manuals to a friend’s e-cookbook. These days, most of my editing work takes place on a few print magazines and a website or two as regular gigs. I take the occasional  job editing corporate flyers, real estate materials, travel brochures, newsletters and the like.

I am part-time Managing Editor of the bi-monthly print publication Lake and Home Magazine, a regional lake living and lifestyle magazine with topics ranging from personal stories to home construction, from local travel hot spots to interior design and lakeside entertaining. In this role, I determine editorial content, engage freelance contributors, copy edit and suggest and approve design and layout of the magazine. I work within an established page count and editorial budget for each issue. 2016 is my third year editing for this publication.

I also copy edit two regional sports magazines, High School Sports View (premier issue September 2013) and F-M Sports View (premier issue February 2016), working, again with a pool of freelance writers creating editorial, as well as copy editing, and approving layouts. I have been with both magazines since their premier issues.

One of my great passions is my role as Managing Editor for a newly launched lifestyle site called Food Body Mind Soul where contributors of all ages and all walks of life share recipes, beauty secrets, favorites lists, travel, photography, fashion, design, art and much more. In my role at FBMS, I plan editorial, make assignments, curate content, manage due dates, engage freelance bloggers, copy edit and final format posts, as well as manage overall engagement of visitors to the site.

If you are in need of the services of an editor, I’d be pleased to discuss your next project. I can take on additional regular part-time work or work with you on smaller, one-off projects, as you require. Please feel free to contact me.
